When I wrote The Divided Man a few years ago, I thought I could self-publish it and put it in as many places as I could, and reap the rewards or thousands of book sales across all the platforms I put it on. The results were underwhelming, no matter how hard I pumped it on various book review blogs and the bloggers who reviewed it. The promotional effort needed to push people to one reading platform, let alone half a dozen, was worth of a full-time job.
Then Amazon began to offer great programs for exclusivity. I removed my book from all the platforms I put in on and discovered…that I could not. A multitudinous multitude of passwords and changed emails made it impossible to clean out all the old copies. No Kindle Exclusive for me…unless I do something different.
What I am doing is re-editing the book, having Design Pony [my graphic designer in Portland, Oregon] do a special cover and I am releasing The Divided Man: Author’s Edition as a Kindle exclusive in 2021.
I am centering on Kindle as my sole self-publishing platform because it has the reach and the programs to help me succeed. If a paper book publisher ever picks me up, they can do the distribution on other platforms. Fall forward. Happy New Year
