In the 1980’s, John Sauer worked for Tonka Toys and was a leading force in the launch of the Sega Master System in the US. This was Sega’s entre’ into console gaming and led the path to Sega’s success with the Genesis and other game systems.
After a several-year sabbatical in the Florida Keys, where Sauer earned his captain license and was a big game sportfishing captain and also freelanced for game developers, he came back to the Sega fold as the Editorial Director for Sega Visions magazine.
Today Sauer works with journalists and Sega fan sites to preserve the knowledge of how Sega entered the market and the behind the scenes history of what made Sega great. He is available for interviews and can be reached at john@johnmsauer.com
